I've been putting together a presentation for the CEO of Ideo -- the creative force behind Apple's first mouse, the Palm handheld, stand-up toothpaste tubes, insulin pens and just about every other meaningful product outside of Klondike bars and spinning rims.
This book is a bible for creative organizations and processes -- brainstorm! brainstorm! brainstorm! Prototype, Observe and Empathize! Just an inspiring look at work:

I also had a chance to play with Ideo's "method cards that help break the creative process into key categories and processes -- a nice, if a bit pricey, gift:
A brilliant & simple (the golden combo) site: www.futureme.org let's you compose an email to yourself for a pre-determined future delivery date....could be the day you turn 40 or just this July. A great tool to reflect back with but more importantly to set some goals & push yourself not only to pimp them, but also just to remember them. Check the LA Times article.
"Leadership is about empathy. It is about having the ability to relate and to connect with people for the purpose of inspiring their lives." - Oprah
Like we all heard big pimp Bill Clinton repeat, "I feel your pain."
As a little kid, I promised myself never to listen to talk radio because it sounded like the encyclopedia, thesaurus and dictionary all rolled into one...and they didn't play A Lighter Shade of Brown either. I also promised myself I'd subsist on a diet of CheezeIts and Cactus Cooler and live in an 8-story treehouse with a pet monkey.

Thank god for commuting! It turned me on to StoryCorps on NPR, where these good folks capture intimate-but-punchy tales told between family and friends. There's a ton of goodness here and a few really great storytellers.
Damn...fiber is hella sexy. And this is a reminder to consider rebranding young over sticking with the old, tired and constipated.
From today's WSJ, "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Yet it isn't usually associated with Metamucil, a fiber supplement intended to relieve constipation. Procter & Gamble wants to change that. The makeover of Metamucil, a 75-year-old brand, is the latest in a series of brand updates at Procter & Gamble. Rather than invest in launching new brands, in recent years the company has breathed new life into tired ones."
If P&G's right, I can't wait to see Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Ritchie & Wilmer Valderrama fighting tooth-to-nail over the last bottle of Metamucil at Fred Segal...at least I hope!
This equally freaky & great political ad on YouTube is generating big numbers & I gotta imagine this is only the first of what will become an entirely new breed of homespun campaigns. Gone are the days of daunting fiscal barriers to entry and in is the digital "wild west" - a meritocracy of design and ingenuity, making room for anyone with a camera and a iBook. Here's a nice article in the SF Chronicle.
