Thank god for commuting! It turned me on to StoryCorps on NPR, where these good folks capture intimate-but-punchy tales told between family and friends. There's a ton of goodness here and a few really great storytellers.

As a little kid, I promised myself never to listen to talk radio because it sounded like the encyclopedia, thesaurus and dictionary all rolled into one...and they didn't play A Lighter Shade of Brown either. I also promised myself I'd subsist on a diet of CheezeIts and Cactus Cooler and live in an 8-story treehouse with a pet monkey.
